Art and Wellbeing for Young People Early 2025
Weekly sessions held at Milton Keynes Arts Centre over five weeks. For 11-13 and then 14-16 year olds. The sessions were for young people who had issues around mental health. I designed and delivered all sessions. We made flipbooks and zoetropes to understand the basics of animation. The young people then had two session to produce the frames for our AR animated poster. They we able to use a range of materials and mediums to do so including painting, charcoal and collage. The end result was a fully working AR animated poster.
This idea was then further developed into a workshop for International Festival in Milton Keynes. It was based around a similar premise of a bird flying but this time of a paper dove to tie in with the festivals main theme. I therefore had to develop my knowledge on animation further. I produced a model to use for stop motion animation and from that produced the frames for the workshop.
We had 150 participants take part in the workshop, their art work was scanned and added to the animation live so they were able to take their art away with them.
SOFEA sessions
I designed and led 5 art sessions for SOFEA MK. It was part of the work they do with young people who have been excluded from or refuse to go to school. We met weekly in Kiln Farm and I had a different art activity for them to try their hand at. This included paper mosaicking, metal embossing, Lino printing, still life painting on canvas and a Halloween themed pumpkin painting session.
Scarecrow Workshop
I was tasked by MKAC to design a scarecrow making workshop for young children.
