< Arts Facilitator

In this role I help to deliver MK Gallery’s Public Programmes, which offer an entry point to the exhibitions that compliments and expands on their themes. I have had the pleasure of taking school children round the ‘Beyond the Page’ Exhibition tailoring both the talk given and activities to suit the needs of the group. Making what was, for adults, a heavy exhibition to digest accessable to primary school children.
One of my favourite roles as an arts facilitator at MK Gallery is helping with curating, putting up and taking down exhibitions in the galleries Project Space. To date I have done this for:
  1. An exhibition of work by associate artists and members of staff at the gallery.
  2. The Y M C A group exhibition

Through the arts facilitator role I have received audio description training. Which detailed how to make those with a visual impairment feel more welcome in the gallery and how to guide them around an exhibition. Building on this I have given a talk on the “Beyond the Page” exhibition specifically works that were in it by the artist Imran Qureshi to a visually impaired group. As well as designing and delivering a talk on the “Saul Leiter Unfinished Business” for nine visually impaired patrons. Taking this tour group round was a real joy as we had an open dialogue around the works I had chosen and about Saul Leiter himself.
